Morning Buzz: Great grapes?

One bunch of new premium grapes was auctioned off for close to $1,000. The “Ruby Roman” attracted that bid in Japan, recently. The Associated Press reports some other bidders were able to get the grapes at a cheaper price of around $245.

So what make these grapes so special? A report from a Japanese TV station reports each grape is more than an inch long. And, that the grapes are very sweet and easy to peel. People at an agricultural co-op in Ishikawa, Japan spent more than a decade to create these grapes.

About 1,500 bunches of Ruby Roman grapes will be shipped to department stores and supermarkets this fall. No word, yet on if the price will go down.

And, I thought the $200 hamburger was expensive!
