Morning Buzz: Gas for $2.99?

You can get gas that won’t cost you any more than $2.99, but you’ll need to buy or lease a new Chrysler, Dodge, or Jeep to get the deal. The Associated Press reports the company has announced the offer which caps the price of gas at $2.99 for 3 years. Customers must buy or lease the vehicles before June 2nd to get the gas incentive. The offer covers most models.

Here’s how it works: Chrysler gives customers a gas card that’s linked to the company’s charge account. Then the customer is billed $2.99 a gallon and the car company pays the rest.

I Beleive that is Based on a max of 700 gallons of Gas yearly.for either 2 or 3 years only!! Go for a ride with me on my Motorcycle this Weekend Lyra!!

This is actually based on 12,000 miles driven per year multiplied by 3 years..divided by the vehicle’s adjusted combined EPA City/Highway average miles per gallon..

You buy a 2008 Dodge Caliber that gets 24 miles per gallon..you will be allowed 1500 gallons over a 3 year period..or 500 gallons a fiscal year..

The 2008 Dodge Caliber has a fuel capacity of 13.6 gallons..

We drive a vehicle that gets 35 miles per gallon and we fill it twice a week..

..so to fill the Caliber up twice a week is 27.2 gallons per week...multiply that by 52 weeks in a year and you have used 1,414.4 gallons of fuel in the first fiscal year..914.4 gallons more than you were allowed for that year…

Over a three year period you will use roughly 2,743.2 gallons more than you are allowed...which will cost you full pump price..

What a deal..you spend $21,300 dollars to get a “limited amount” of fuel at $2.99 per gallon..

I think by law they should have to give you a free “ I’m an Idiot” T-shirt to go along with the deal..
