Morning Buzz for Wednesday 3/19/08 - The vitamin debate
A Harvard doctor claims multivitamins don’t work and may actually be harmful. The opinion of Dr. Harvey Simon is causing quite a controversy. CBS News interviewed Dr. Simon who said, “For healthy adults I can say with a good deal of confidence they’re not effective.” He says they don’t protect against heart disease or cancer, and studies suggest high amounts of some vitamins may actually raise the risk of certain cancers. But, many experts disagree with Dr. Simon’s findings, including Dr. Richard Riviln of Cornell University’s medical school. Dr. Rivlin says, ‘The balance of evidence really does favor the use of multivitamin supplements.” Some things experts agree on are that vitamins are vital for pregnant woman and anyone with a vitamin deficiency, including senior citizens.
What do you think?

I don’t take vitamins. I do try to eat right…most of the time. I don’t see the benefit of vitamins providing you eat a healthy diet. Something else to spend your money on. I noticed yesterday that the local conveinence store here in Marion sells white clay…..to eat. Whuz up with that? Anyone know why you would eat clay? I’ve tasted a few mud pies in my day but never clay. I bet Jackie could ask some of them redneck friends of hers. They would know.
