Morning Buzz for Wednesday 2/27/08 - New Cheerleaders for one Florida Team

This past weekend, the Florida Marlins were looking for a few good men. CBS affiliate WFOR in Miami reports they were not looking for baseball players, but male cheerleaders. The team said they were looking for some “big guys with big personalities.” And more than a dozen men showed up to try out for the team’s new all-male dance squad. They all made the team, and they’re looking forward to entertaining crowds at Marlin’s games. One member of the team says he hopes this will help bring more people to the games.

We’ll show you video of the 2008 “Marlins Manatees” this morning. I’ve seen the video and it looks like the guys are having a lot of fun! What do you think of their moves? Let me know, maybe I’ll read your comment on the air tomorrow!

In the words of Simon Cowell…“I dont mean to be rude..“

“But that was very cabaret..a very forgettable performance at best..Paula and Randy of course will like it..but I am sadly disappointed..“

I aint sure how this is going to attract the crowds..or even what kind of crowd it will attract..Sure they look like they are having fun..but is it truly entertaining?

I think not..

Miami could care less about sports. The Dolphins and Marlins are both suffering. Male cheerleaders to bring in more fans? Only if the fans make the track up from Gay West. Now. Here’s a novel idea to get fans in the seats. WIN. Put a winner on the field. Besides. Baseball does not need cheerleaders. Just a cheesy mascot is enough.

Well I think it is just great that 12 fat dudes found employment..doing something other than flipping burgers down at Big Boys..

I cant think of one particular minute out of my day that I have a desire to stop and watch fat guys bust a move..

Tho I must admit that I do want to see Chris doing his dancing weather report…Carlton from the Prince of Belair comes to mind..I dont know why..it just does..wink

LOL.. The Carlton dance. That is some funny stuff right there. Only Carlton can do it. I’ve tried.

I have a feeling that Chris can give him a run for his money..

Maybe he will do the Carlton dance tomorrow morning with a lil Tom Jones “It’s Not Unusual” playing softly in the background..

It would fast become the most watched weather show in the area..

This may just be the gimmick we have been looking for…;)

Lyra, the Marlins would put donkeys as cheerleaders if they could draw a crowd. They are the worst drawing team in baseball. But I love the sports angle.
