Morning Buzz for Wednesday 2/20/08 - Interesting Advertising

A new ad campaign for Welch’s grape juice isn’t coming in the form of a taste-test at your local supermarket… it may be in your favorite magazine. The new magazine ads are called “peel and taste.” You can just peel back the metal foil and get a “sample” of the juice. A report from KCBS in Los Angeles shows not everyone is buying in, though… some people are hesitant to lick a magazine page. However, the creators of the ad hope it will catch on.

We’ll show you video of this interesting advertising in the morning. Be sure to check in with us between 5 and 7!

Now why on earth would anyone in there sensible mind would peal and lick a page for a taste.  With all the hateful things that people do to people today. Can you imagine what a sick mind can do to innocent people.  Somebody better wake up and fast!

Bonnie,

I am glad to hear someone out there feels the way I do!  Licking paper for a sample is just going a little too far.  Besides, it looks silly. grin
Can you imagine all the magazines out there sitting in doctors’ offices that may be licked repeatedly by sick children?
And in this age of terrorism and mean people in general, you have a good point about sick minds too.

I’ll just stick to buying a small size of a product to try it out!

Just think of the confusion… A magazine with both the smell tabs for perfume and the taste tabs. That would be one of my worries. The only other thing about it that yes it may taste like the product but It is like the lolly pops that taste like foods but it is not the actual food.

OK. Scrap the first idea.  I would never peel and lick anything in a magazine. Why? Because I’m just not a lucky person. My luck, Welchs ad would get mixed up with a Preparation H ad.  My tounge would end up shrinking. It’s just nasty. Plain and simple.

I hope Welch’s doesn’t get sued when someone gets a nasty paper cut on their tongue. This reminds me of the magazine ads for the Super Nintendo game “Earthbound.” They were scratch ‘n’ sniff and contained the most repulsive scents to enter your nostrils.

That might be debatable. The wifey said the same thing to me after a friendly game of “tent”.
Oh, c’mon. Y’all don’t act like you ain’t never played tent before. It is a rite of all married couples.
