Morning Buzz for Monday 3/10/08 - Stilettos are the new sneakers?

Are stilettos the new sneakers? Maybe in Amsterdam… where 150 young women raced down the city’s famed fashion street last week to win a 10,000 Euro prize (approximately $15,350 USD).

The "stiletto Run" is only three-years-old but has quickly grown in popularity and spawned imitation races in Germany, Sweden, Poland and Russia. It’s sponsored by Glamour magazine, and the race's motto is "Shopping is a Sport.”

You can’t just wear any heels, though! To be allowed to compete, women had to wear heels that were a minimum of 3.5 inches.

In case you were wondering, 25 year old Tamara Ruben from the town of Veenendaal, claimed first prize in ¼ mile race. When asked what she would spend the money on, she said "anything but high heels.”

The race itself isn’t that long, but sometimes even wearing high heels hurts! But, a $15,000 prize could make it all worth it.

Better yet. Instead of running around in heels. Stay home and learn to work a toilet seat. Y’all are supposed to be big girls. If it’s up, put it down. We need it up, you need it down. You don’t hear us complaining about you leaving it down.

I like watching lil lovers spats..they make me feel all fuzzy inside..

I worked today..does that mean I dont have to put the toilet seat down tonight?


Wow a 1/4 mile in 3.5 inch heels…now those calf muscles got a work-out..and probably a few blisters on top of blisters..

I barely made it through the disco era with platform blue suede shoes..a white 3 piece leasure suit..with a bright red shirt..and for some reason a lime green tie..Man I looked like “Huggy Bear” from Starsky and Hutch..I was cool..

..but I couldnt have crawled a 1/4 mile in those things..much less ran in them..

Bravo Ladies..I feel your pain..wink
