Morning Buzz for Friday 2/1/08 - Don’t fall for it!
There has been a lot of buzz lately about the economic stimulus package that could give many Americans several hundred dollars to help boost the economy. Even though, this hasn’t even been approved by congress yet, there are reports of some scammers trying to take advantage of what people may have heard about it. The Associated Press reports that identity thieves are using the promises of tax rebates to trick people into revealing financial and personal data. That includes one scheme where someone call you saying you can only get a rebate if you provide bank account information for a direct deposit. Don’t fall for it! The IRS says they don’t even collect info by phone! It seems scammers are always coming up with new ways to try to trick us into giving up personal information. I can’t tell you how many emails I get everyday telling me to update my bank information for a bank that I do not have an account at. Or, someone tells me something about updating my Pay Pal account... which I don’t have. Some of the most bizarre are the ones that address me by saying “Hey Chuck,” and then proceed to ask me to help them transfer millions of dollars – and that I will certainly get a cut of the money for doing so. What about you? Have you been contacted by a scammer by phone or email?

I dont get scamming emails..but I like to warn people just the same..so I send them this..
Subject: New Scam
This new scam is being pulled mainly on older men..What happens is that when you stop for a red light a young nude woman comes up and pretends to be washing your windshield..While she is doing this another person opens your back door and steals anything in the car..They are very good at this…
They got me 7 times Friday and 5 times Saturday… I wasn’t able to find them on Sunday…
