Morning Buzz for 3/12/08 - Gas Prices

Say it ain’t so! Gas prices are poised to set a new record at the pump according to The Associated Press. So, far the national average has surged past its record high of $3.23 a gallon last May to $3.24. For oil, the new inflation-adjusted record is the fifth new high in the last six sessions.

Believe it or not, gas is 68 cents higher than it was one year ago. What is the highest gas price you’ve ever seen? In one small California city, prices are up past $5. And nationally, some analysts see $4 a gallon coming soon to a city near you.

I cannot believe that the American Government, Congress and President Bush cannot put a cap on the price we pay at the pumps.  The Economy is so bad, but instead of the government concentrating on the price of Gas which has a big influence, the are focusing and putting all the blame on the mortgage meltdown!  What will they do when people start losing their jobs because they can’t afford to put gas in their cars to get back and forth to work. Guess we’ll rely even more on the government - more unemployment, more welfare and more hand outs.  What about helping before it gets out of hand.  Stop the Millionaires (i.e. Exxon executives)from getting even richer at our expense;Put a Cap on the price of Gas. And if you’re one of these idiots that compare the price of gas per gallon to the price of water and or milk - Try buying and then drinking 35 gallons of milk or water a week!!!  (and that’s for a small car!)

Every time I fill up my gas tank, it costs more than $40.  I don’t even like to look at the pump while I’m filling up my car… if I look, I see the numbers climb higher and higher.

I will buy only what I have to buy. I hate it for the merchants. We had planned a fishing trip Easter weekend. Two days of fishing. Boat holds 101 gallons of fuel. Because of the fuel prices. We’re not going. That means no money for the bait shops. No money for the hotel. No money for the resturaunts. I hate it but just be damned if I’m giving them(oil companies) anymore than I have to. I will stay at home.

I think the biggest problem with high gas prices isn’t as much the cost of a fill up, but the trickle down effect it has on everything else we buy.  Have you noticed the price of a gallon of milk lately?  How about a soda at a restaurant?  Companies are paying higher gas prices too and are passing it along to you and me--the consumers.  It’s a double whammy.  If gasoline were the only thing I had to pay more for, I could probably manage.  However, EVERYTHING cost more now--and that really adds up.  I guess I’ll be ordering water from now on when I go out to eat.  At least that’s still cheap--for now! grin

That’s exactly right Chris.  Everything has increased because of the price of Gas.  Everything is affected… Farmers have to pay more for fuel in tractors, fuel to transport.  The Food companies & Trucking Companies all have to transport to grocery stores and restraunts.  Of course they have to increase their prices to absorb some of their fuel costs; the stores and restraunts must pass along the increase to customers to absorb some of their increase they are paying for items and then the end consumer gets hit the hardest.  An increase on everything; Everything EXCEPT for Salaries!!

Oil prices.  What I don’t understand is why our “great and fearless” leader in Washington won’t tell the enviromental wackos to go to ... well, you know, and start drilling in ANWAR and off the coast of Florida. Folks, ethanol is not the answer. It’s costing us billions. Do ya’ll realize that there is enough oil UNDER the United States that we could very effectively tell the Arab countries to take a hike??  Read Jerome Corsi’s book about the Black Gold Myth.  You’re not being told all there is to tell.  This business about oil coming from Dinosaurs is balony!! Further, the stuff they keep feeding the sheeple about “peak oil” is based on a theory by some nutcase in the 50’s who’s name was Hubbert!(It’s called Hubbert’s Peak) He was wrong then, he’s wrong now, but the oil traders in Chicago don’t want to listen to anyone else. There are oil wells in Texas that have resurged. They were originally thought to be dry, but oil is again being pumped from them.  Time to take a stand people!!!!

Can you say sheep dit? That is where we are going. Gas and oil prices are of great concern, but not the major concern. Guess what numero uon is.
