Morning Buzz for 1/14/08—Would you want to live at your favorite store?

Welcome to the Morning Buzz on scnow.com! This is a place where we can talk about the stories making noise around the Pee Dee, The Grand Strand and beyond. I would love for you to voice your opinion by posting comments here!

Would you want to live in your favorite store? A New York comedian did. He spent a week living in an Ikea store in suburban New Jersey.

From the Associated Press:
Comedian and filmmaker Mark Malkoff has ruled out staying with friends or checking into a hotel while his New York City apartment is fumigated for cockroaches.
Instead, he's struck a deal with the manager of the Ikea home goods store in New Jersey to stay there.
Malkoff has moved into an a spacious bedroom display at the store, and says he'll pass the time playing laser tag with security guards and he might even host a housewarming party. The only problem is the sink, toilet, refrigerator and flat-screen TV in his temporary digs are just displays.
Malkoff will also capture the whole thing on film.

Malkoff’s stay ended this weekend. So, we’ll have to see how it went! Would you want to live in a store? If so, which one and why? I would have to say I would want to stay in an electronics store… that I would be able to watch TV… and use a computer!

I’d have to go with a WalMart Super Center..

..not just because of the WalMart women neither..

but mainly because it would be like I never left our home..the only difference between the two is that they still have price tags on their stuff..smile

According to the story that aired on CNN—Mark Malkoff says he chose Ikea because it reminded him of home.  He said most of his apartment was furnished with Ikea.

I would like to think that he did it for exposure, with him being a comedian and filmmaker..

“He is going to capture the whole thing on film” and “ He’s struck a deal with the manager of the Ikea home goods store in New Jersey”...were dead give-aways for me..

Just for the record..our home doesnt really look like a WalMart..they are much more organized than my wife will ever be..

The truth is always a compound of two half- truths, and you never reach it, because there is always something more to say.

When all is said and done, the weather and love are the two elements about which one can never be sure.
