Morning Buzz for 1/11/08 - Secrets to a longer life?

Welcome to the Morning Buzz on scnow.com! This is a place where we can talk about the stories making noise around the Pee Dee, The Grand Strand and beyond. I would love for you to voice your opinion by posting comments here!

Today’s buzz comes all the way from the U.K. A large British study suggests there are 4 steps to add almost an extra decade and a-half to your life. The Cambridge study says:

1- Don’t smoke
2- Eat lots of fruits and vegetables
3- Exercise regularly
4- Drink alcohol in moderation

The study tracked about 20,000 people in the U.K. and calculated that those who adopted the four habits lived 14 years longer on average. According to the study published in the Public Library of Science Medicine journal, the benefits were apparent regardless of
people's weight or social class.

A health expert with the World Health Organization calls the study an “important piece of work,” which will help convince people that changing just a few factors adds years to a person’s life.

To me… this sounds like the advice my mom has always given me! What do you think?

That is totally depressing..

1- I smoke like a California wild fire
2- Love my fruits and veggies
3- I get up every morning
4- I drink like a fish

It dont take a Master’s Degree in trigonometry to figure out that I should have been gone a long time ago…

...and now..according to this study..any hopes that I had of becoming a “WalMart Greeter” just flew out the window..

I have never thought about the “shelf-life” on myself before..but give or take 14 years..I have led an exciting and fulfilling life..never a dull moment..

..so whether it be.. Mr. God or Cambridge that decides when my expiration date is..

..I can only hope to go out…laughing..
