Morning Buzz: Cola ‘08

Jones soda is a company known for producing some interesting colas (who can forget the holiday ham-flavored soda)! Now their sodas have a political twist. They are named after the candidates and you can vote on your favorite cola candidate on the company’s website. The Campaign Colas are:
Barack Obama’s “Yes We Can Cola” ( 2,484 votes at blog press time)
John McCain’s “Pure McCain Cola” ( 1,110 votes at blog press time)
Hillary Clinton’s “Capitol Hillary Cola” ( 918 votes at blog press time)

Stephen Jones, CEO of Jones Soda told KOMO TV in Seattle, he expects sales to be good for all the candidates' sodas, even though Hillary Clinton is no longer in the actual presidental race.
Each sale of soda counts for one vote which will be updated on the company’s website. Jones plans to sell the sodas through Election Day, or until they run out.

I still can’t get over the fact that someone came up with meat-flavored pop.

Reminds me of one of my worst beverage experiences: Dr. Brown’s makes a kind of pop called Cel-Ray.

Well, once when my family went out to dinner at a deli when I was a kid, I saw the bright green can and thought I’d give it a try, thinking it was citrus-flavored.

No. It was celery-flavored. I realized that after I took a big hearty swig and promptly got sick.

Ugh. To this day, just thinking about it makes me queasy. Horrible!

I’ll never be brave enough to try a meat-flavored pop..

I rarely venture off the “pepsi path”...even when they came off with that clear pepsi..I just couldnt see the logic in it..

..after years of having my Jim Beam the perfect color when mixed with pepsi..it just seemed so wrong to use a clear soda..

To even consider mixing it with something that tastes like a pork chop..is scary to say the least...them things have bones..wink

Yeah, the clear Pepsi was weird. It also bothered me that the ads featured a Van Halen song. It just seemed wrong all the way around to me.

It was cool back in 1982 when the Tar Heel men’s basketball team won the NCAA tournament and they put out championship cans of blue pop. It looked likme carbonated Windex but it was tasty.

I was so excited when they won again in 1993 (when I was a junior at UNC—very cool!) because I thought they might do that again. But no, this time the pop was purple. I was very disappointed. Even clear pop would have been more appropriate than purple!
