MLB Network doing things right so far

When it was announced that Major League Baseball was launching its own TV network, I had my doubts about how fair and unbiased it would be.

After all, ESPN hasn't had balanced baseball coverage in years since they became the flagship network for the Yankees and Red Sox.

Face it, if your team isn't located or playing a team in New York, Boston or California, they're not going to be on Sunday Night Baseball anytime soon.

That's why, so far, MLB Network has been a great surprise. In my opinion, they've done a good job of getting around to every team, no matter what the TV market is.

Trust me, I'm a Pirates fan. No one cares about the Buccos outside of Western Pennsylvania. But they've had a couple of features on them so far.

The "30 Teams in 30 Days" show makes sure that all teams are represented. An hour-long show devoted to every team, you can't fault them for being biased on that one.

But more than that, there's been a few times where they've talked about the Pirates on Hot Stove, and Saturday they will broadcast the second spring training game featuring the Pirates.

But it's not just watching my team that makes the channel great. Shows like "Baseball Seasons", "Classic Games", "Ken Burns' Baseball," and features on the Young family and Josh Hamilton have made it really enjoyable.

If you haven't seen it, it's well-worth the look.
