Mardi Gras Mambo Time!
Whoohoo! It's Fat Tuesday! The one day out of the year the whole world pretends to be a N'awlins Native (even though Mardi Gras is much more than just one day). Even if you're not in New Olreans, you should know by now there is SO much going on to celebrate the big party!I'll cut to the chase and list a few of them here for ya:
***Mardi Gras Party at Fat Tuesday at Broadway at the Beach.
Fat Tuesday celebrates Mardi Gras on February 24 with happy hour specials, complimentary Jambalaya and prize drawings. For more information, call (843) 444-3255.
***Dick’s Last Resort Mardi Gras Parade
Time: 5 pm
Location: Starts at the overflow parking lot by Greg Norman’s and ends at Dick’s Last Resort.
--Starting at Greg Norman’s, the parade will go along the Waterway and end at Dick’s Last Resort for a Mardi Gras party for everyone who participates and anyone else who would like to attend! Food and drink specials will be available. Join the parade with a float, a car, a motorcycle or even walk.
***I hear there are pretty good parties every year a Bumstead's and Dagwood's in Myrtle Beach....and also Flo's Place down in Murrells Inlet.
But these are just a few things going on. Go to "Things To Do" and search for Mardi Gras in your area and see what comes up for tonight.
On a personal note, I'm a little bummed about Mardi Gras. This makes the 2nd year in a row (the only two years of my life) that I haven't had a King Cake OR Popeye's on Mardi Gras. With my family from New Orleans and growing up there as a kid, hollering, "Throw me something, mista!" perched atop a ladder during parades...these delicacies are not only staples of Mardi Gras, but pretty much everyday life. I've been to 4 stores this weekend...and no such luck on a King Cake. It's quite disappointing. But life goes on, I guess.
If you know of where I can snag one, let me know. If you have no idea what I'm talking about when I say "King Cake," click here...and find out why you could possibly choke on a plastic baby if you ever have some. (You'll hear some good ol' Mardi Gras music on that page, too!)
Hope everyone has fun on this big FAT TUESDAY....send some pics my way if you end up going out tonight. And as they say down in the Big Easy....Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler!!!

Mardi Gras always leaves me wondering..
..mostly about beads..
How do those girls get all those beads they wear around their necks..
How come some girls have lots of beads..while others have a few or none…
I attended Mardi Gras one year in hopes of answering these questions..but instead I lost the Harley for 2 days and woke up half naked on Beale Street..
You dont have to remind me..I already know..I could have just went to Myrtle Beach Bike Week and got the same results..
