Live from Francis Marion University, it’s News 13!
It's another busy day at News 13, as we prepare for our second Back to School show in a month. Two weeks ago, we produced parts of our 5:00 and 6:00 newscast live from Coastal Carolina University. The Coastal cheerleaders and Chanticleer marching band were on hand as we focused on what Coastal means to the Grand Strand community.
Tonight, we're loading up the live trucks and heading over to Francis Marion University. Tonight, Patricia Burkett will focus on efforts to improve FMU's security in the wake of the Virginia Tech shootings. Rusty Ray will show you how the school's nursing program is impacting the Pee Dee. Martha Hunn will spotlight FMU President, Dr. Fred Carter's efforts to improve the quality of life along the I-95 corridor.
Speaking of Dr. Carter, what an amazing guy. Fred sits on our Future Focus Expert Panel, and the depth of his knowledge of South Carolina, it's history, people, challenges, and opportunities is immense. The Pee Dee is fortunate to have a man like Dr. Carter living and working in the region. He is a great resource.
We'll also bring you a feature on the school's soccer team, as well as a live interview with FMU's new women's basketball coach, Heather Macy.
These Back to School newscasts are always informative, and a lot of fun, so be sure to join us tonight at 5:00 and 6:00.
