Let it rain!!

Winter is supposed to be a very wet season across Eastern Carolina, but as of this posting, the rainfall deficits early in 2009 for Florence, Lumberton, and Myrtle Beach are -4.00", -3.35", and -5.57" respectively. That's not good news given that the dry summer months are not all that far away.

The good news is that we should get a nice soaking rain today and tonight. Most areas will get at least 1/2 inch of rain today and tonight and many areas will get an inch or more of rain. This will hopefully help prevent us from slipping back into a drought situation like has already happened in the Upstate and western parts of North Carolina. Here's the latest drought map from NOAA:
