Just one of the boys
I got to admit walking into Hendrick Motorsports and seeing Dale Earnhardt Jr. on the stage with Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon was a little strange. When Earnhardt announced he was leaving DEI for Hendrick, I didn't know how he would fit in with his more polished teammates. But after seeing him in action, I don't think he is going to have any problem fitting in. He has done the right things so far all the way down from wearing and tucking in his button-down shirt. Junior is still going to have to produce on the track but for the first time in his career he is going to have all the resources and the personnel around him to succeed. I don't know how many races he will win or if he will make the Chase but he will have no excuses for not being in the best position to win.
Other notable events from Day 3:
- Teresa Earnhardt is trying to show off her personality a little. She made an effort to go every table at lunch and talk to members of the media. I don't know why it is so hard for her to be in the public eye. I mean every other owner in the garage area is here answering questions and meeting with the media. I think if she makes a little effort, she will see it isn't so bad and maybe the scrutiny around here will die down a little.
- Apparently, Red Bull Racing is getting a little revenge for not being a stop on the media tour. For the past two days, someone has driven a No. 83 show car to the hotel and got in between the buses as we went to to Petty Enterprises.
Thursday is the last day of the tour with a trip to Roush Racing on tap. And you know owner Jack Roush always will have something to say or gripe about.
