It’s Snowing—AGAIN!!
It had been nearly 6 years since we had a snow like the one two weeks ago in the Pee Dee, and now it's happening a second time this year!
Snow began to fall in the Pee Dee this morning around 3AM and didn't let up until after 8 this morning. After all was said and done, most areas in northern parts of the Pee Dee got between 1 and 2 inches of snow with up to 3 inches reported in Chesterfield County. As soon as the snow started falling, the air in the Pee Dee cooled into the lower 20s with wind chills around 10 degrees thanks to a 15 to 20 mph wind.

On the Grand Strand, the snow didn't start until around 7AM and is still piling up as I type this blog. As of now, we have gotten about 1/4" accumulation at the News 13 studio in Myrtle Beach while many parts of Horry County have gotten around 1/2 inch. When all is said and done, the Grand Strand will likely get about 1/2 to 1 inch of snow accumulation. For many youngsters on the Grand Strand, it's the first time they have EVER seen snow, so you know the kids are excited about that! The same could be said just 2 weeks ago for many kids in the Pee Dee, but snow is now old hat to those kids who have now gotten twice in 2 weeks!

At 9:30 AM today, the back edge of the snow was in Horry County, so look for the snow to end before lunch time today. Don't, however, look for the snow to melt today. All that snow out there will reflect most of the sun's rays today which should hold temperatures in the 30s all day with many areas not getting above the freezing mark. With temperatures tonight expected to be in the teens, travel today or tonight is not recommended. Remember, if the road looks wet, it's ICE! If you must be out today or tonight, remember these three things: Slow down, be extra weary of bridges and overpasses, and never, ever slam on the brakes or jerk the steering wheel.
We have gotten numerous pictures of the snow, so I thought I'd share a few with you.
Enjoy the snow today and do me a favor--tell me what you think. Is the snow good news or bad news? Do you love the snow or are you ready for spring?

I think I’m ready for spring. It is fun to look at the photos people send in, though!
