I’m telling you, that’s just not necessary!
Much of life is not necessary. It's not necessary to use yucky, fowl language when you're trying to express your aggravation and anger. There's an inches deep, big ole', usually red, book called a dictionary (and several dictionary Web sites for those web savvy people) that can readily assist and help with choosing better words. It's just not necessary to cuss. Doesn't gain us a thing to show our ignorance.
I was on the telephone, talking to someone about interviewing them when she said something along the lines of "You don't need to do that..." And then, as an afterthought, said "Like my grandmamma used to say 'That's just not necessary."
Just hearing her say those four words took me back to my grandmothers, who reminded me, often now that I think about it, that much "is just not necessary."
Some stuff in life is necessary, like eating, and working so you can eat, and paying taxes, I suppose; Oh, and buying gasoline so you can put it in your pick up truck so you can go where you want to go when you want to go... BUT going some places in that truck, well, like our grandmothers used to say, some things are "just not necessary."
It's not necessary to go back to the buffet line three times. The food is good, you've had your fill, but it's not necessary to keep eating.
It's not necessary to jump off the porch. It's fun. It's doable and most likely someone's insurance will cover the broken arm, but, again, it's not necessary. There are always stairs and steps.
It's not necessary to walk, or attempt to walk, across the top of the monkey bars when dangling from them, or looping one handed from one bar to another, is the perfectly acceptable way to cross the bars. It's just not necessary.
What is it about us that possesses us and makes us do things that aren't necessary?
Climb tall trees, jump from perfectly good aircraft, ride rickety roller coasters? These things are not necessary, but they sure can be fun.
"That wasn't necessary," but it sure was a nice thing for her, him, them to do... "That gift wan't necessary," "But, you can't have it back."
I suppose there's no real harm in doing the unnecessary, as long as the necessary gets done in there somewhere.
