Hurry up and wait

Television and the internet are great inventions. Gives me something to do while I'm sitting in the press box at Williams-Brice Stadium four hours prior to kickoff. But it's like I've always said. I'd rather be doing nothing up here than doing nothing sitting in traffic like a bunch of people are going to be doing in a little while.
But I digress from the issue at hand -- a game that doesn't matter to many people outside South Carolina, but one that matters to almost everyone within the Palmetto State's borders.
All week, I've been trying to get a feeling for this game. I'm usually pretty good at that, but I'm kind of stumped.
On the one hand, South Carolina has given me no reason lately to think it will play well. Oh, the Gamecocks will play hard, but that goes only so far when a team is still lacking enough good players. Then again, the Gamecocks do have Steve Spurrier, one of the best coaches in the country, drawing up the ball plays.
On the other hand, there's Clemson. The Tigers were on a roll before Boston College derailed their ACC title hopes last week, and in heartbreaking fashion, at that. There is the possibility of an emotional hangover. And while Tommy Bowden is a darn good recruiter and and X's and O's guy, I'm not convinced he's the greatest motivator.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, I really don't know what's going to happen tonight. I still feel deep down that Clemson will win the game, but I wouldn't be completely shocked if Spurrier managed to pull one out.
