Hudson will be missed
Everytime I've covered a Wilson High or Florence-Darlington Tech baseball game over the years, I have always enjoyed inteviewing coach Curtis Hudson. If for no other reason, I have appreciated his honesty. That is something that is sorely lacking in today's athletics.
Hudson wasn't afraid to tell you if his team was playing poorly. He once told me after a win over West Florence that gave them the Region 6-3A title, that he told his team they stunk before the game. Nice motivation, coach.
That's why his resignation from Tech was such a shock to everyone who knows him. Everyone but Hudson and family, that is.
Curtis Hudson loves baseball, but it is far from the love of his life. In my interview with him Tuesday night, he told me that his two biggest loves are his wife and his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Long after his career as a coach truly ends - whenever that truly is - he knows he will always have those things.
In the interim, however, he has left a legacy of winning at every level at every stop he's been in. And that's something worth remembering.
