How about those Navy Seals

Sunday’s amazing rescue of captain Richard Phillips is like a real life movie, just not starring Charlie Sheen.

Three Somali pirates held Phillips in a lifeless speedboat being towed by the USS Bainbridge, a Navy destroyer deployed to the rescue.

Several days after being at the helm of a cargo ship freed by his 20-plus crewmembers, Phillips was held captive by three young pirates that were part of an increasingly worrisome nuisance on the trade waters of the Indian Ocean.

In the blink of an eye, three Navy Seal snipers hit the mark with three whistling shots, killing the pirates as additional Navy Seals in speedboats whisked Phillips away in the dark.

Earlier that day I could hear remarks on television about how such an event was a test for President Barack Obama. While the talking heads raved on about that, the President had already given the green light to use deadly force. Who better for the job then those Navy Seals. I know some of you saw the movie, but this has to be one of the most awesome rescue stories ever told.

"It was pretty remarkable that these snipers nailed these guys," said the senior military official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity. "You think of rough seas, 75, 80 feet away, and under darkness, and they got them. Three pirates, three rounds, three dead bodies."

Job well done by everyone involved. It’s great to know that Phillips and the crew aboard the Maersk Alabama are safe, and they remembered their training, forcing the pirates off the ship.

Truly amazing. These guys are the best in the world at what they do. I’m damn proud of them.
I’m afraid there will be plenty more opportunities. I don’t believe in negoiating with terrorist, pirates, muslims or the french.

Yeah, Mr. Mookie.  I agree.  Negotiations are a sign of weakness.  Let’s just nuke ‘em all.
