Haynesworth’s big payday

It’s not too bad to be Albert Haynesworth these days.
The Hartsville native just got a fat new $100 million contract contract with the Redskins, which includes more than $40 million in guaranteed money.
It was only two years ago, it looked like Haynesworth’s career was headed down the wrong path. He swiped his cleat over Cowboys lineman Andre Gurode’s face and resulted in a five-game suspension.
But since then Haynesworth has been a Pro Bowl performer the past two years and was rewarded for it Friday with large contract.
It’s too early to say if Haynesworth will live up to the money the ’Skins paid to get him.
But judging by what has happened the past two seasons, it would be hard to bet against him.

He’s a thug. I have no respect for him as a person or player.

I agree, who the hell cares about him or what he is doing. First of all he left the state, basically snubbing South Carolina and Clemson, to go play for Tenn. when he was in college, second he has done nothing for his hometown what so ever.

Answer these two questions. Bank when Haynesworth left Hartsville for college would you have played for USC or Clemson. Also, would he have made the money he is making now had he went to USC or Clemson. If you are honest the answer would be no on both counts. His hometown treated him badly, especially the football coaching staff at HHS. Not saying he is a great person, and has done some bad things. Remember, when he was at HHS he was a kid, and didn’t get the disipline.

Yes. He would have made it to the NFL had he played at Carolina or Clemson. Yes. He would have made the money in the NFL providing his performance was the same. It’s not the fact he left. Lots of kids do. It’s how he left and how he conducted himself afterwards.

Thug. Perfect for me. I despise the Redskins too.
