Gamble doesnt pay off
It easy to second-guess a decision that happens in a game.As sports fans, we all do it.
I really had to question to the move Fayetteville coach Charles Gunning made Saturday against the Phantoms.
With a minute left Fayetteville scored to make 50-49. But instead of kicking the extra point, Gunnings decided the Guard should go for two but the Phantoms stopped the play and run out the clock.
The move, which is similar to the one former Broncos coach Mike Shanahan made this year, is good if the play is executed but it might have cost the Guard at least a chance at the win. I get that his team had momentum after the touchdown and it had just given up a 40-yard touchdown pass the series before.
But to me it didn’t make sense when you could have tied the game and just go out there and play good defense.
