Forget golf, I’m watching Tiger

I’m not a golf fan.
I’ve never played the game — unless you counting hitting a few balls on the course behind a friend’s home when I was a kid.
And I don’t really intend to ever play the game — there are just too many other things to invest my time and money into.
But today at the office, I found myself turning the TV to The Golf Channel.
Not too many years ago, this never would have happened.
But Tiger Woods is playing in the Accenture Match Play Championship.
And I am a Tiger fan.
I’m a fan because of days like yesterday, when Tiger was down three holes with five to go — a seemingly insurmountable lead for even the best PGA player.
Except this is world No. 1 Tiger Woods. No one can beat him when he’s on.
He didn’t disappoint, rallying with three straight birdies and an eagle — a feat even an amateur miniature golfer like myself can grasp — and ended up beating poor J.B. Holmes.
So this afternoon I flipped over to TGC, hoping to catch a glimpse of something special again from a guy who consistently delivers.
If Tiger’s not in this event, that choice doesn’t even cross my mind today.
But this is Tiger Woods — and I’m a fan.
