Florence: The City of Love

Florence sounds like such a lovely name, doesn't it? One fit to the romantic aura of Valentine's Day, no doubt.
It's not Italy, it's not France, but Florence, SC has a few Valentine's events designed for those interested in remaining in the Pee Dee for this festival of love.

The Palmetto Ballroom Dance Club Sweetheart Ball will be this Friday from 7:30 to 10:45 p.m. at Leatherman Senior Center, located at 600 Senior Way, in Florence. There will be instruction of Bolero from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. and open dancing until 10:45 p.m. Tux is optional. All Palmetto Ballroom Dance Club members are asked to bring finger foods. A Valentine's Day Dinner-Dance will be this Saturday at 7 p.m. at Darlington Moose Lodge, located at 1056 N. Governor Williams Highway, in Darlington. It's open to all Moose members and their invited guests. Dinner will be served from 7 to 8 p.m. and the dance will start at 9 p.m. Music will be provided by the group Down South. Tickets may be purchased in advance at the Lodge or by calling Brenda at (843) 346-2966.

Shag Dance Lessons will be this Saturday from 7 to 8 p.m. at Excalibur Lounge, located at 1520 W. Palmetto St., in Florence. Provided by the Tri City Shag Club. No admission charge. Open dancing will be from 8 to 11 p.m. every Saturday at Excalibur Lounge, 1520 W. Palmetto St., in Florence. Guests welcomed. For more information, call (843)661-0781.

A Valentine’s Dance and Dinner will be this Saturday from 7 to 11 p.m. at Carolina Ranch House, located at 4732 W. Palmetto St., in Timmonsville. There will be a BBQ dinner at 7 p.m. and open dancing from 8 to 11 p.m. Admission is $15. Call (843) 992-7748.
