Felton definitely belongs
I admit I had my doubts about Raymond Felton in the NBA. Sure, the Latta native put up phenomenal numbers in leading the Vikings to two state titles.Felton was a great college player at North Carolina and was a member of the 2005 national title team.
But still I didn’t know how his game would translate in the NBA playing against bigger and physical guards. I also didn’t know if his outside shot would be there.
After seeing him play in person for the second time this season Tuesday against the Bulls, Felton didn’t disappoint. He led the Bobcats with 19 in points as Charlotte is making a late push for the playoffs.
Felton is having one of his best seasons as a pro, averaging 13.7 points and 6.7 assists a game. He can become a free agent at the end of the season and there is talk the Bobcats might not re-sign him.
I think the Bobcats would make a big mistake by doing that. Felton’s prime years are clearly ahead of him and he would make a great tandem with rookie D.J. Augustin for years to come.
But if it is with the Bobcats or another team, Felton has clearly proven he will be star for years to come in the NBA.
