Exhaustion

I'm exhausted. I don't know any other way to put it. I haven't been eating right, I've gotten about 4 hours of sleep each night for the past week, and I can't go to bed without dreaming about the news. I covered the two presidential primaries in Columbia over the past couple of weeks, and have been working on a homicide by child abuse trial all this week. What that means...is major "work mode." I love my job, perhaps a little too much, and pour a lot of myself into it. I live and breathe the news (which I have to imagine is quite unfortunate for the poor people who have to hang out with me.)

You know what though...I love the exhaustion. Well, maybe not so much the physical and mental fatigue, but more the feeling of accomplishing something a little greater than my usual work. I like being in the excitement of things like primary parties, and I enjoy telling stories from inside the courtroom. But they do wear you out quite a bit. The presidential stuff is self-explanatory. The trials are exhausting for everyone involved (and believe me I know that my exhaustion as a journalist in NO way compares to what the families are going through.)

Anyway, I'm gonna try to turn off "work mode" for a day. I'm gonna take a nap, eat some candy....and watch really, really crappy tv.
I hope you all get to take a break from the madness as well....have a good one smile

4 hours sleep a night…

Welcome to my world..smile

I havent slept a full night since I exited the military..

Just when I thought I had that under control..my wife got Kodi and Nemo..two hateful puppies that think it is cool to wake Daddy up at 2:00 AM to play..

If Nyquil and Jim Beam wont do it for me..that candy and crappy TV dont stand a chance..

Get some rest Patricia..you have earned it Girl!

Thanks Wolf!
I also have two “friendly” animals...luckily they like to sleep through the night...though occasionally I do hear our cat rolling around one of my earrings or something like that on the wood floors! that’s always fun....

By the way, Nyquil and Jim Bean...probably not the best combination.... smile

I dont mix my drinks Dear..I meant seperately..one or the other..

I suppose that Jim Beam would make a dandy octane booster for Nyquil tho..

“Beam-quil”..you may still have the sniffling..sneezing..coughing..aching.. and fever..but you just wont give a damn..

You gotta quit giving me these ideas..it certainly isnt doing your image as a role model any good…

..and you know what I’m like if you encourage me..

I’m going to fuss at you a little bit. Think ‘tough love”. You’re a young, smart and beautiful woman. The world is literally yours for the taking. It’s all about choices. Make the choice NOW, while you’re young. Take care of your personal well being FIRST. I have the same problem as you......at times, when I’m lazy. Yep, lazy. I use work as an excuse not to eat right and exercise. When I am trainging and watching my diet, I feel so much better. I have the energy and no problem sleeping at night. (6 hours is a plenty). Join a gym, baby girl. If you don’t know what to do then invest in a personal trainer to help you learn the basics. Off my soapbox. Mr. Mookie just cares about his favorite reporter.

Do it today.

haha...thanks Mr. Mookie!
I don’t know, perhaps with your “tough love” advice, you could be a great personal trainer??

Your not the only person who’s told me to channel my stress somewhere else...I’ll finally take you guys up on it!

I’ll look like Arnold Schwarzenegger soon...I’m thinking pre-"governator" days...more like the Conan the Barbarian era…

I know what you are talking about with the dreams about work!  I had dream the other night that I was supposed to be filling in for Frank and missed the Fox show and barely made it for the 11:00.  The good news, I was on time for work that day!

Melissa, as long as your on time for work on the weekends...we’re cool...I haven’t done the weather since college....haha

Melissa and Patricia, I watch you both on the weekends as I usually work late on the weekdays.  THE NEWS ROCKS!  Patricia, you looked especially great this weekend, I like that you’ve grown your hair out.  And Melissa, it’s just nice to see someone smiling after hearing about all the fires and automobile crashes.  My friends all agree that you’re a great compliment to an already outstanding newscast.

I’m sad to say I’m not much of a Fisher’s sports fan so I usually turn it off when the weekend guy pops up. Nothing personal, I’m an ESPN guy.

However, I still think the weekends are pretty great.  Channel fiften just doesn’t seem to have any flavor.

Has Jody Barr switched to the weekends?  I keep seeing him on, and my friends all say he’s normally a weekday reporter?

Anyway, keep up the great weekend work gals!

Phlorentine,
thanks so much for the nice comments, believe me, Melissa and I really appreciate it!
As for Jody, well, he’s pretty much always working....he’s normally a weekday reporter but he does on occasion fill in on the weekends and often goes the extra mile to cover stuff even on his days off!
Thanks again for watching and I hope you continue to do so smile
