Enjoy Nights of 1000 Candles at Brookgreen Candles without all the traffic!

Since living in the Myrtle Beach area, Nights of 1000 Candles at Brookgreen Gardens has become a tradition for me. There's always been one drawback for me, however--the traffic! Last year, after waiting for more than an hour to get in, I made an important discovery that could have gotten me in the gate in 10 minutes or less!

At the risk of giving away my secret, here it is.

Since most people that visit Brookgreen for Nights of 1000 candles live in the Myrtle Beach area or in the Pee Dee and because we promote it so much on News 13 with most of our audience in the same locations, most folks enter the Gardens from the north. This creates a line of traffic literally miles long that can take a long time to wade through during the busiest times of the evening. Last year, I waited in that line (it's well worth a long wait by the way) for more than an hour before noticing at the main intersection that the line coming in from the south only had about 10 cars in it.

The secret: Enter the Gardens from the northbound (the south) side of Highway 17. Unless others noticed the same thing I did, or unless a BUNCH of people read this blog, you'll feel very smart having bypassed all the traffic associated with this great Holiday event!

By the way, the weather should be great for the event this weekend. Look for cloudy skies Friday night, but only a slim chance of a passing sprinkle. It will be cool, however, with temperatures in the 40s most of Friday evening. For Saturday night, expect clear skies with temperatures around 50 at sunset falling into the lower 40s by 10pm.

Let me know how it goes!
