Early bird gets the warm at the beach!

With all the warm weather recently, you may be itching to head out to the beach and get a jump start on your summer tan. That sounds like a great plan, let me just say that early bird gets the warm this time of year when it comes to warm weather at the beach.

Why? The answer is simple. The air across the inland areas may be heating up into the 80s for the next couple of days, but the water temperature is still just 52 degrees. This means that when the 80+ degree air onshore interacts with the 52 degree water temperature, there is sure to be a seabreeze that kicks in around 2 or 3 each afternoon. When that wind reverses and starts blowing in off the 52 degree water, you'll know it!

How do I know? I waited too late to go to the beach on Sunday and ended up leaving because it was cold. The air temperature at my house just about 4 miles inland was 81 degrees late yesterday afternoon, but the temperature at the beach had already plunged to 68 degrees due to the seabreeze. I knew that was going to happen, but late afternoon was the only time I could go, and as the old addage goes, "even a bad day at the beach, is a pretty good day!"

That said, I'm learning my lesson today. It's 12:40 pm as of this posting and I'm officially off for the day, so I'm heading out to the beach today while temps are still in the upper 70s!

Maybe I'll see you there!
