Crazy night at Darlington

If last night's Nationwide race was any indication, then today's Dodge Challenger 500 should be a wild ride.
There were eight cautions and two red flags in the race, won by Tony Stewart, who was the class of the field all night. It would have been interesting though to see if Denny Hamlin made the race if he would had something for his teammate. Hamlin, the two-time defending champion of the race, failed to qualify when he crashed during his first qualifying lap. All needed was to get around the track in 45 seconds. He was the quickest just a few hours earlier in the final practice session. But he will learn.
As for the race the surface, the black shiny surface really looked good under the lights. It has been great to see Darlington Raceway rebound after being on the verge of extinction a few years ago. The improvements and the four straight sellouts will cement its place for years to come.
I'm looking forward to the race tonight but was having trouble picking a winner. Because it is going to be so hard to pass, I think someone will have to win it that started in the top 10. I also think experience at the track and being able to drive a loose race car will help.
So I'm going with a safe pick — Jeff Gordon.
