Countdown to the Debates: Breathe! Deeply. Often.
The title of this blog is actually posted on a little card that sits on my computer monitor. It was given to me by a dear friend, and I find it to be very good advice. Myrtle Beach is ramping up very quickly to be on the world stage. Along side the Senior PGA Golf Tournaments in the ‘90’s, these Presidential debates promise to be among the best, if not THE best chance for the world to see, and get to know Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. So the pressure is on for all involved in getting ready, and pulling off these very big events. As we move closer to both “game days”, I am honored to have the opportunity to talk with the folks working in the trenches to make it all come together, and then to tell you what they tell me. Susan Stipanovic is the event manager at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center where the Republican debate will be held on January 10th. I talked with her yesterday, and I could just see the excitement all over her. It got me excited. When I asked her how the news about the debate coming to her property affected her she said, “”Wow, that feeling in the pit of your stomach, did you ever have that?” Yes Susan, I get that feeling pretty often. It’s the great butterflies that Mickey Rooney saidhe got every time before he entered the stage. Those butterflies that remind us we’re human, alive, excited, and so ready for what’s ahead.
So to Susan, Paul Edwards, and the many we’ll talk with over the next several weeks… Breathe… Deeply. Often. This is a very exciting time.
