Coping with tragedy

This week has been an extremely difficult and emotional news week. The lives of seven college students were lost this week to a house fire in Ocean Isle Beach. My thoughts and prayers go out to the victims families. I simply cannot image what they must be dealing with or how they are coping. As a parent, losing my children is my greatest fear. We want to do everything we can to keep our children safe. I pray daily for God to watch over my children, and that He will send his angels to protect them. I say this to remind folks that covering a story, like the fatal beach house fire, is very hard. I sometimes find myself "on the air" becoming overwhelmed with emotion. Some would say that's unprofessional. I would hope that most would say it's because "Nickie is human, she cares, and has a big heart." Again, my prayers are with the families who have lost their precious children. May God give them comfort during this difficult time.
