Concerts and Clowns

Hello, again, all. One of these days I'll get the blogging thing down. I'm taking baby steps for now, though.

How have the weekends been? And weekdays for that matter?

I went to the House of Blues a couple weekends back like I talked about. I've gotta say, I think the best part about being at a live show...is when the whole crowd joins in singing with the band on stage. Sure I sing along with the radio (I know you hip kids are down with the iPods--I keep it old school with the FM), but it's just a lot more fun when everybody's singing obnoxiously loud with a bunch of good friends.

What's your favorite part about live shows? Have you been to any recently? And did anybody go to the circus in Flotown this weekend?

I love circus'. In college, we used to all hang around and watch the elephants load off the train and walk across the street to the Colonial Center (I went to USC). For us, it was a big deal every year when the circus came to town...we'd even skip class to watch the elephants cross Assembly street. As far as I know, people still do it...and there are more poeple watching them every year.

But I haven't been since I was in college (p.s....the last time I went, cotton candy was flippin' $10! Seriously, no joke!).

All this circus talk makes me want to rent "The Greatest Show on Earth." Maybe that'll be my plan for this coming weekend.

To be totally honest with you..what with 2/3rd’s of the country slipping into a deep depression..I dont find the weekends all that enjoyable..

I cant remember the last time my wife dressed up to go out..wait a minute..yes I do..She wore those Gloria Peterbilt designer jeans when we went to the tractor pulls..woohoo..

Give me a minute..

Ok I’m back..I cant take too many memories like that..

I went to USC too..then went on to complete my studies at BUD/S Basic PT SEAL training..but I never cut class to watch elephants cross the street..guess I need to add that to my bucket-list..along with cotton candy..I never tried that either..

Can you believe that I have typed this much and aint said nothing ugly?

There’s still hope for the world…:)

I was afraid we had scared you away. We’re keeping our butts home. Spending no more than we have to. Heck, I even cut back on my beer drinking and all but eliminated the once a week hooker. I think we may splurge this weekend and go to Charleston. The Sportsman show is this weekend. Go see the Dock Dogs. Good show. Wolf hit nail on head. Everyone is trying to work but it’s really hard to stay focused. You can see the fear. More bad news(jobs lost)coming from Marion this week. Big loss.

One more thing. Please, please for the love of all things good. Don’t blog, speak or even think about reporting anything on that damn Humane Society/distemper story. It’s been beat to death. I actually had a conversation with a buddy of mine last week. He quit watching because he was tired of hearing about it. Move on.

That was a train wreck of a story to begin with..any idiot would have seen that and shut that story down before it became an embarrassment..

..instead of adding poor reporting..poor information gathering..bias coverage..and a dwarf on steroids..

Many many blogs ago..I spoke of this..when a reporter gets too much false praise from above..goes straight to the head..and the result is a disaster such as this..

2.1 million dogs are put down yearly across the country..117 is a mere drop in the bucket..so making the Humane Society out to be Hitler or Stalin..only paints the picture of a desperate newsroom..scrambling to recycle re-hashed news..

Shortly after this story broke..I gave away most of my Media General stock…to people that I didnt like..smile

From a professional stand point…the only thing that “you can count on” is…

..a News Team will only be as good as the person running it…

Let’s try this same tactic during bike week..wink
