College pick ‘em

There was definitely a lot of head scratching among college football teams last weekend, especially for two teams in the Palmetto State.
South Carolina and Coastal Carolina suffered two embarrassing losses last Saturday. The Gamecocks saw their charmed life they had been leading during the past few weeks come to an end in the 17-6 loss to Vanderbilt.
People are wondering how a Steve Spurrier-coached team could muster only six points over the last six quarters. It’s pretty simple the Gamecocks clearly aren’t as talented nor as disciplined than the teams Spurrier had at Florida.
Plus, there are problems on the offensive line not to mention a carousel at the QB spot. Like a coach once told me, “If you playing three QBs, then you don’t have one.”
Offense wasn’t a problem for Coastal Carolina as it exploded to a 24-0 first-half lead, only to self-destruct in the second half in the 41-34 overtime loss to Presbyterian. Props to Bobby Bentley’s team for hanging in there and battling.
But the loss was clearly a result on an undisciplined Coastal team, which was flagged for 12 penalties and and even had a fight on the sideline between two if ts players.
Well, USC and CCU will try to put those loses behind them as they face a pair of conference tests.
