Coastal defense dominates first half
Playing one of the top offenses in Division I-AA, the Coastal Carolina defense has been up to the challenge at least in the first half against Presbyterian.Coastal has picked off PC quarterback Tim Webb four times, two by Marrio Norman, to lead 24-7 at the half.
Norman, who usually plays safety, moved over to cornerback this week after Mario Tynes was kicked off the team following his arrest earlier in the week.
Freshman defensive back Keon Cunningam also has made his presence felt with a sack and a 43-yard interception return for a touchdown.
PC, which is averaging 425 yards a game has been held to just 127 in the first half.
Coastal’s margin should have been worse but quarterback Will Richardson fumbled inside the 10-yard line as the Chanticleers were trying to make it 28-0.
We’ll see if the Chants can keep it for another half. It will be a tough task because the Blue Hose have some momentum with their touchdown right before halftime.
