Clio Cotton Festival

It was another busy weekend for the Johnson family. On Friday I put the final coat of paint on a shed that I have been building since July. Friday was also an early night for the pre-dawn wake up call for the drive to Clio, SC. The Clio Cotton Festival was held this past Saturday in downtown Clio (at the town's only traffic light). I was an emcee from 9am until Noon, and it was a fun way to spend a Saturday. My family came along, and my girls had a great time. Olivia's comment on the ride home was "I want to do this again and again and again!". Most of my time there was next to the stage, so I was able to watch many of the talented performers. For a small town, Clio has some great singers!

I was able to grab some time to walk around the festival. The girls had their faces painted by the clowns Snikkles and Lemonade. That is Snikkles next to me on the stage. She is the one who invited me to Clio, and doubles as our weather watcher from the town. There was also some good food, and plenty to do for the kids, like a barrel ride, a hay ride, a bounce house, story time and an art display. After a few hours there the girls were worn out, and were asleep on the ride home before we even got to Dillon.

Sunday was a beach day, and for me that means fishing! I caught a huge sting ray that was easily over 4 feet long, and a nice sized bluefish. We let the ray go, but grilled the blue up for dinner. Yum!
