Christmas came a little early

So we opened out presents Sunday night because we're going to be busy tonight. Christmas Eve is when my husband and I usually open our presents. Actually, to be honest, we did well this year to wait until the day before Christmas Eve. Last year we gave each other our presents almost a month early. We always try to shoot for Christmas Eve though!

I'm going to start with the Xbox 360 games I got, of course. Ok, the first game I got for Christmas was Guitar Hero III. This is a gift I received early. My husband was unable to get the cymbals I wanted delivered before Christmas so he got me this game. Anyway, if you read my previous blog about this game, just an update, I have beaten the game on easy. I haven't played it for about a week though.

I've been to busy with another game I bought that I had wanted to quite a long time, NFS (Need for Speed) Carbon. I have been a fan of the NFS series since Hot Pursuit came out. NFS Carbon was actually an early Christmas present for my husband. Two years ago my husband got me NFS Underground II for Christmas. I didn't know if I would like it or not because it dealt mostly with tuner cars and didn't have hot pursuits in it like the previous versions. Once I got into Underground II, I really started to enjoy it. I loved the fact that you could mod your car, pretty much too however you wanted it to run and look. So, with Carbon, you get to modify your car and go on hot pursuits. How sweet is that?! I think the hot pursuits are more enjoyable in this game though. In NFS Carbon you get a choice at the beginning of the game from muscle cars, tuners and exotic. I chose muscle cars for my first career. I started off with with a 1970 something Mustang then quickly went to a Dodge Challenger. I mainly got the Challenger because I love the movie Death Proof. I feel in love with the car on the game though. I pretty much beat most of career mode with that car. To finish the game I bought a Ford GT though. I painted it iridescent hot pink. It's a tough game, but not too tough. I was able to beat it in pretty much four or five days. I do plan on playing careers with exotic and tuner cars as well.

Anyway, I opened Dance Dance Revolution: Universe II. I have a love for this game because this is what my husband and I used to do on our dates when we first started dating. He actually bought me the home version for the original Xbox our first Christmas together. This year, my brother-in-law got it for me. Well, a little has changed since the original Xbox and 360 versions. The difficulty settings have changed and to me, the graphics look worse. I love this game, but they really didn't improve on it much with the newer versions. I'm sure I'll be driving the people who live downstairs crazy for a few months with this. Especially when I start increasing the difficulty and get back to the DDR rock star I used to be. Ok, so I wasn't like the guy in Grandma's Boy, but I did get pretty good at one point.

My husband picked up Perfect Dark Zero for me. I heard about this game about a year ago. I had really never seen any advertising for it. I heard about it though this group I am a part of on MySpace. The group is a girl gamer group. They went on and on about the game. Now that I own it, I understand why. It's a total chick game. It's a FPS game. You are a chick with fiery red hair with blond streaks... She also has purple painted finger nails. I like it, but it’s a game I am going to have to get used to. The movement of the game kind of upset my stomach while I was playing it. I literally thought I was going to be sick there for a little while. I actually had to quit playing it last night.

I also upgraded my 2nd generation iPod nano to the 3rd generation with some Christmas money I got. I am actually very happy with this purchase. This is the best nano I’ve seen yet. The 1st and 2nd generation nanos were pretty much the same; the look was kind of different. I’m sure there was some technical differences, but I really didn’t see any. Anyway, the 3rd generation nano is awesome! I love the fact that I have video now. It took me a little while to figure out how it all worked though. I still haven’t gotten it quite figured out, but I’m close. The menu has changed a lot. It comes with better games than the previous models. The music quiz is pretty sweet. When I go to choose the music I want to listen to, I can view albums by their covers… Just like the iPhone and iTouch. I only got the 4GB and I have 620 songs and almost 3 ½ hours video on it, with over 300MB free. If anyone knows how to get video from the iPod to display on a TV, please let me know. I would really like to watch my Red vs. Blue on my TV.

Another cool thing I got from my parents is a docking station for my XM radio. I now have my XM pumping into my surround sound at home. I love that. I don’t know what I did before satellite radio. I can not live without it now.

Obviously, I know Christmas is not about getting a ton of gifts. I do remember the reason for the season. I hope everyone has a wonderful and safe Christmas, Hannukah, Kwanzaa or whatever else you may celebrate!
