Chick-fil-a Bowl Notebook - How About a Little Pep
Not the Rose Bowl Parade, but close

New Year's Eve is a great day for parades, and for the first time all week the weather was nice in Atlanta. The Chick-fil-a bowl parade ran through downtown this afternoon, past CNN Headquarters, the Georgia Aquarium and the Olympic Park. The parade was lead by about two dozen cows... honestly they've been everywhere all week. And while they continue to beg me to "Eat More Chikin", I wouldn't mind having a nice juicy burger when I'm back in the Palmetto State.
Anyway, the streets were lined with Auburn and Clemson fans... a great turnout. From what I've seen so far, it's basically split 50/50. With the two schools so close, and with such a rabid fan base, I'm not that surprised.
Fanfest
After the parade, the fans hit a wild pep rally in the Georgia World Congress Center, this ginormous building located right next to the Georgia Dome. There were all sort of games, food and music. Kids were able to kick field goals, catch punts, throw passes and make touchdown dives in those big air-filled jumpy things that you get for your first grade birthday party. Of course, it cost an arm and a leg to do anything.... (including $4 for a Chick-fil-a sandwich! Preposterous!) But it looked like a great time.
War Eagle? War Eagle!
If I never hear the phrase "War Eagle" again, I"ll be a better man for it. These Auburn fans use it like Hawaiian's use 'Aloha'. Sometimes their conversations just include those two words.
Auburn Fan 1: "War Eagle."
Auburn Fan 2: "War Eagle? War Eagle"
Auburn Fan 1: "Oh yeah War Eagle."
Needless to say, I'm ready for this game to get started.
I'm sure you are as well. Give me your final gameday predictions right here!
