Chamber event was a huge success

The South Carolina Chamber of Commerce held its 28th Annual Summit Banquet last night at Marina Inn at Grand Dunes. The state Chamber is considered the unified voice for business and industry in South Carolina. This basically means the Chamber's goal is to improve the quality of life in South Carolina, by improving the business climate, and enhancing the state's global competitiveness. The South Carolina Chamber of Commerce represents more than 6,500 member companies, and some 600,000 member employees. 90 percent of its membership is small business.
Once again, I had the honor of emceeing last night's banquet. It was a wonderful event in one of the most exquisite properties in Myrtle Beach. As expected, everyone with Marina Inn and the Chamber were extremely hospitable. It was wonderful to listen to Upstate Senator Harvey Peeler as he accepted the 2007 Public Servant of the Year award, to chat with Harris DeLoach, President and Chairman of Sonoco Products Company in Hartsville, and my friends Mindy Taylor of Progress Energy and Pete Mazzaroni of Roche Carolina, and enjoy the entertainment of All That, courtesy of the Carolina Opry. And I was not alone in representing News13 at the banquet, our very own Michelle Carolla, sang the National Anthem and Invocation. It was a night to remember.
