Cedar Waxwings

It was a wonderful morning, while drinking my coffee on my porch I noticed a huge flock of birds in my neighbor's back yard. As my mother and I both keep lists of all the different birds we see I needed to check it out. I put on my glasses, grabbed my 300 mm lens and wandered next door. I had suspected that the flock was Cedar Waxwings passing through their migration to their breeding grounds in Southern Canada. I was right. There we at least a few hundred of them devouring my neighbor's berry tree. The flock didn't seem to notice, or care I was there so I hung out for a while. In a short time the flock had cleaned the tree clean of berries. Here are a few of my favorite shots from this morning. I hope we have room in the paper for them.

I love, love, LOVE these photos, especially the last one where it almost seems as though the bird is waving you off with his wing!

I even like them, and I’m terrified of birds! Great job Rebecca.

They’re beautiful—such an elegant-looking bird! And I love the standalone art. Thanks nature buff!
