Back from Bike Week

Well we pulled into our driveway around 3 p.m. yesterday, exhausted but happy. We had a great time at Bike Week. I was greatly surprised at the friendliness of the bikers. I never once encountered anyone who was mean or even slightly rude. It was like a giant family reunion where you met cousins you never knew you had. : )

I survived riding on the back of Matt’s bike, learning to turn with the bike and how to get on without dumping it. The only dark spot in my otherwise fun weekend was when I cut my head on one of the cabinets in our camper. I tried going around Matt and did not duck my head low enough. I caught the side of my head on a sharp corner. But other than that, we had a great time. I saw a young boy of about 10 years old doing burnouts on a 50cc modified chopper in the burnout pit at Murrell’s Inlet Suck Bang Blow. It was almost like going to a fair, with all the vendors and the atmosphere. Except everyone was wearing leather, boots and bandannas.

Look...if you went to bike week and got into a drunken brawl...just say so..

Me and Mookie will understand..and will respect you the very same amount as we did before..and would never tell a soul..smile

Bikers are cool like that..down to earth people that just happen to do drugs or drink a bit more than your average elephant can..

Murrell’s Inlet Suck Bang Blow..just the name of that place scares me..

I did notice that there wasnt near as many bikers there this year as there used to be..it was pretty tame...I hope Sturgis has a better turn out…

Oh Yeah...I’m glad you made it back alive..smile

Did you get in tattoos or body piercings? The body paintings at SBB were pretty interesting.

Ah, Mr. Mookie… the body paintings… Yes, I was there when that was going on and I was quite surprised by it. But alas, I did not partake in any kind of ritual adornment, save my fake tattoo sleeve on my t-shirt. I did briefly entertain the idea of a new tattoo, but backed out when I couldn’t think of anywhere to put it that wouldn’t be trashy. I’ve run out of tasteful but discreet locations that can be hidden while I’m at work. Eventually, I would like to get a full back tattoo that comes to cap sleeves, but that will be at a much later date. Sorry to disappoint you. : )

So you are like a “closet-tattoo bearer”?

Why on earth would you want to hide them at work? Are you ashamed of them?

I musta missed something when it came to tattoos..should I be hiding mine so people cant see them?

All but one of mine is hidden. I have three. One you guys probably saw on the back of my neck in the post entitled “Just gliding along part two.” I have one on my lower back and one on the inside of my right wrist. Since I occasionally cover things where tattoos are still considered taboo, I have to be able to cover them so as not to offend anyone I am interviewing. Just a wee bit of professionalism on the job. Now out of the office, I love them and would like nothing better than to get a bunch more. But in the name of looking professional and grown up, I must abstain. At least until I write a novel and make tons of money and go into business for myself. Then I’ll be that 60 year old woman covered head to toe in body art. ; )

I actually did not see many “real” bikers. You know, the kind that scare small children for fun. : ) I did see a lot of weekend warriors just there to cut loose and have a good time on and off their bikes. It seemed that most of the people I met were something else full time and a biker just as a hobby now and then. The new SBB, not the one at Murrell’s Inlet, was better in my opinion. The burnout pit was indoors and you could ride your bike through the bar. Good times!! Also it was a lot bigger and more raucous than the other one. Much better biker bar. I also liked the Rat Hole. It was a little crowded when we went, but overall we had a great time. Broadway at the Beach was probably my favorite place, though. There was a live band and a lot of people milling about. We stopped in to an Irish pub there and had lunch (not the liquid kind). It really had a nice atmosphere. I just can’t remember the name of it. : )

I have 3 also..one SEAL Team tattoo..one Special Forces tattoo..and a wolf inside a dream catcher on my forearm..

Aint nothing professional about me..I am what I am..

..but I dont think I could hide them..it would be like me trying to be something that I am not..

Either you love me..or you dont..I can live with it either way..wink

Broadway at the Beach reminds me of the WBTW Christmas party..I still have nightmares..a place called Crocodile Rock I think it was..

I have been seeing two doctors now for 5 months..it aint looking too good for me getting over this anytime soon..*LOL* ..wink

Ever been to Fat Tuesdays? Ugh! Those 190 Octanes will knock you out for days. I still have brain freeze.

Never been to Fat Tuesdays..my luck has held out so far..

You couldnt drag me back to Broadway at the Beach..I just didnt find anything there that didnt have “tourist trap” written all over it..

I think this year..I will try to avoid Christmas parties and sit at home and drink...I hate those DUI checks...they drain you of your buzz in a hurry..

Now that you mention it..I do recall seeing a picture of the back of your neck with the Sugar Glider..the picture wasnt that clear..but I could see enough to tell that the tattoo was of a hubcap off of a 1961 Buick with a straight drive..hardly any clutch..

What ever possessed you to get a tattoo like that?..*LOL*..wink

Well, Wolf, anyone who knows me knows I have a bit of a hang up on those old Buicks. : )

But as to avoiding Christmas parties, just have WBTW build you a man cave above the building… Then you can just crash there. That’s what my friends do. They have a great man cave. Do your friends not love you enough to stop you from driving while drinking? It’s just a little man cave… ; ) I think I’ll pray for them.

I think this year I am going to crash the Morning News Christmas party..I know “Big Mac” Taylor can get me in..she’s a hottie..smile

I never once said I had friends at WBTW..so I doubt they would love me enough to build me a man cave..The closest thing I have to a friend over there is Lyra..but she’s new..so that relationship wont last much longer..wink
