An ‘Enchanted’ evening

I don’t watch many films, but my husband and I recently rented two movies.
I was entertained by Disney’s “Enchanted.” The film stars Amy Adams, Patrick Dempsey, James Marsden and Susan Sarandon. I was surprised at how much I enjoyed watching it — I didn’t have high hopes for the film, despite all the good things I’d heard about it. It seemed strange that they decided to mix cartoons with live action, but it worked.
The only children’s movies I’ve watched during the past several years are the ones made by Pixar, but “Enchanted” was a feel-good movie that subtly highlighted some sad issues, such as divorce and bad manners.
I also enjoyed “August Rush,” which stars Freddie Highmore, Keri Russell, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Terrence Howard and Robin Williams.
The ending was kind of predictable, but I love music — which this film has in abundance.

Some enchanted evening,
you will see a movie,
you will see a movie,
in a darkened theatre.
And somehow you know,
You know even then,
the sound of your laughter
will ring in your dreams.

With apologizes to Rodgers and Hammerstein.
I enjoyed the movie, too. It freaked me out to see James Marsden doing the role of the singer in the ballroom, though.

It was odd to see James Marsden playing such a role, especially since “Spider-Man” was the last film I saw with him in it. In “Enchanted,” it looked like he was channeling Gaston from “Beauty & the Beast.”
