An “atta boy” for Burgess Elementary!

If you think courtesy and respect are terms lost on today's generation of kids, then you have clearly never met the fourth grade class at Burgess Elementary in Horry County.

My news director loves to issue "atta boys (and girls!)" for a job well done here at News13. This not only gives us a way to know when we are doing things right, but is also great for employee morale.

Well, morale should be high and someone is definitely doing something right at Burgess Elementary. A group of nearly 100 fourth graders from Burgess were here yesterday on a field to learn about weather and to learn how the news business works. I'll admit, I was a little scared of the prospect of entertaining 100 kids at one time, much less having them 4 feet from my feet during the noon newscast Thursday. I just want to say this morning that those kids quickly put my fears to rest by being one of the most well behaved, well disciplined, and courteous groups I've ever had visit the station.

I'd like to take a minute to give a big "atta boy (and girl!) to all the students, teachers, and even parents for being such a refreshing example that courtesy and respect are not values that died the day The Brady Bunch went off the air.

Wow! I caught a portion of your weather report on the noon newscast Thursday..I would have never guessed it was anything other than a regular day at the studio..

Sounds like you had a great time..and it is good to hear that those values are still alive and well out there..

I think you deserve an “atta boy” for being a positive role model to today’s kids…

..me and Mookie havent quite mastered that yet..so thanks for taking up our slack..wink

hi chirs i think that you are doing a good job with the weather because sometimes you be right and sometimes i’m saying wrong sometimes because people might get mad at me for sayin that but i also thinnk that you should be the person over the weather thing to.
