Morning Buzz for Tuesday 1/22/08 - A Gamer’s Paradise

I think it’s time I play one of the new video games on the market. I haven’t played a video game in years. The last game I played was probably “Super Mario Bros. 3” on the original Nintendo. I remember being amazed at the graphics and how they were so much better than the first “Super Mario.” So, I think it’s time I join millions of others and try my hand at some of the newest games and gaming systems out there. I have heard many friends sing the praises of “Guitar Hero” and “Rock Band” or anything having to do with the Wii.

This weekend, more than 15-thousand video game enthusiasts made their way to Orlando, FL for Otronican. The convention features the latest in video game technology. Gamers of all skill levels put their skills to the test. And companies debuted some new games.

Since I’ve been out of the game world for quite a while, which game do you suggest I try?

Either Guitar Hero 3 for xbox or Bowling on the Nintendo Wii

Thanks Warren!  What are the rules for “Guitar Hero?“  Do you compete against other players… or do you just rock out for fun?

I suggest the gaming consoles Xbox 360 and the Wii.  If you ever read my blog, I’m sure you already know I’m an Xbox 360 junkie.  I recently played the Wii for this first time over the weekend.  I created my little Wii person and played Wii sports.  I got to play boxing, baseball, tennis and bowling with my 11 and 6 year old cousins.  They didn’t let me win one game.  It was a lot of fun and I plan on getting one within the next month or so.  Tennis was my favorite and boxing was a lot of fun too.  It was very tiring though.

Also, with Guitar Hero, you can do a solo or multi-player tour.  You can also compete against each other.  You could even play online, but I haven’t gotten this to work for me yet.  I think their servers may be overloaded or something.

Don’t do it. It will make hair grow on your palms.

Well, there’s always “New Super Mario Bros.“ on the Nintendo DS—the dual-screen handheld system—which is pretty good for a classic/modern video game fix. The DS itself has been one of the best investments I’ve ever made.

I’ll have to check out the New Super Mario!

Nintendo Wii’s “Mario Galaxy” is fun, although sometimes disorienting. It’s not difficult to play, once you get used to the controls. But Charles Tomlinson’s suggestion is good, too, if you’re looking for a game more like the old school Nintendo games.

I hate to even suggest this game..but EA Sports has a game out called NCAA 08 Football..it has real-time weather conditions of a player’s choice..

From a snowstorm in Boston to a heat wave in Arizona..the exact environment will not only affect the visuals but also alter game dynamics…

“Rain will cause more fumbles..you’ll see players breathe in the cold..and they’ll get tired when it’s hot..

..available for Xbox, Xbox 360, PlayStation 2 and 3..

I think ya’ll can see where I’m headin’ with this..wink HaHaHa!
