A blast from the past
I read a story on http://www.cnn.com today about a chain in Oregon that accidentally ordered LPs instead of CDs. Some of the stores sent the vinyl records back, but several of them put the records on their shelves. According to CNN, 20 of the LPs sold the first day. And some other businesses are thinking about carrying records in their stores.I don’t think I’ve seen a record player in years. My parents had one when I was a kid — I vaguely remember seeing the cover for an Eagles’ album.
I think most of the albums I had were of children’s music. The only one I can clearly remember is an album of Christmas music, which was rendered by the melodious voices of Alvin and the Chipmunks. I’m pretty sure I wouldn’t appreciate it today.
While my parents’ stereo was a combination cassette player/radio/record player, my grandparents had a unit that contained an eight-track player and a record player.
Now we have satellite radio and MP3 players. I can’t imagine going back to analog — I remember how the records sounded if the vinyl got scratched. Plus, as far as iPods go, there’s something to be said for being able to carry your music in such as small device. But CNN’s article said some hard-core music lovers prefer the sound you get from records.
What do y’all think?

I dont think I could re-train my ears to listen to LP’s ever again..
It was everything I could do to live thru my sister’s Donnie Osmond records..I consider myself lucky to be heterosexual...it could have went either way back then..
Luckily for me..Grand Funk Railroad came out on vinyl..just in the knick of time..
