A co-worker told me when I got back to work her friend ran into Mike Rowe, of The Discovery Channel show “Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe,” at a Florence restaurant.

My favorite subject in the whole worldOK, so it's time for me to blog and after a long week, it's hard for me to come up with anything news-related. Oh sure, we've reported plenty of stories this week that are ripe for comment, but I'm not sure at this point in the day I can comment on them coherently.

The editors and what we doHere at the Morning News, there are five editors: the metro editor (me), news editor Kim Ginfrida, features editor Libby Wiersema, sports editor Sam Bundy and our boss, regional editor Harry Logan. There's no visuals editor, but there is a chief photographer, John Russell. We all cover news, but each in a different way.

Lots of you probably don't know anything about me (even though I know lots about many of you), but that is likely to change the more I blog here.
I'm Jackie Torok, the metro editor at the Morning News. I've been at the paper for almost 13 years, starting out as a reporter/obit clerk and then working my way up to metro editor.
