Coastal defense dominates first halfPlaying one of the top offenses in Division I-AA, the Coastal Carolina defense has been up to the challenge at least in the first half against Presbyterian.
Coastal has picked off PC quarterback Tim Webb four times, two by Marrio Norman, to lead 24-7 at the half.
Upset in the making?
Vanderbilt is not only capable of upsetting South Carolina, the Commodores seemed set on doing so in the first half, jumping out to a 17-0 lead. USC can still win this game, but it will take some work.

It’s a very fair day
It's a great day for football here in Columbia. Early day, but great day.
I always consider these 12:30 kickoffs to be both a blessing and a curse, and a lot of fans do as well. You get home early enough after the game to do something or watch more football on TV if you like, but it definitely takes some effort to arrive in time for a 12:30 kick.

West Florence looking like its old self againIt's been quite a year for the West Florence Knights.
And it got even wilder on Friday.
The Knights, all but left for dead in the playoff race, pulled off an amazing game against one of the best teams in the area.

College football pick’emJust when you thought the college football season couldn’t get any crazier, then last weekend happened.
No. 1 LSU loses to Kentucky in overtime and No. 2 Cal uses poor clock management in losing at home to Oregon State.
Being a diehard Ohio State fan, I wasn’t disappointed by those losses.

COASTAL-CHOWAN SECOND HALFThe clock operator couldn't wind the clock fast enough tonight. But mercifully the Chanticleers-51-0 rout over Chowan is over. It was a good confidence booster for the Chants, who will need it as they enter their final five games.

Saturday's win by South Carolina was much closer than the Gamecocks wanted it to be. Somehow, the Gamecocks still won the game. And I'm not really sure how.

The Coastal-Chowan game had blowout written all over and so far it hasn't disappointed. Coastal has dominated the undermanned and undersized Hawks in every area in leading 34-0 at the half.

So far, the Gamecocks have done exactly what they needed to do in order to beat North Carolina. The Gamecocks need to do the same in the second half.

Calabrese’s gamble changes momentum
A lot of people will point to Hartsville coach Jeff Calabrese's third quarter gamble as the main reason Hartsville wound up on the short end of a 36-28 score to Conway.
But with a whole quarter left to play and the Red Foxes still nursing a 28-16 lead, that's debatable at the least.
But one thing's for sure: It did change the momentum in Conway's favor.
