That’s the biggest thing I have noticed today about every single organizer, volunteer, worker, and sand sculptor. They are ALL smiling! Regardless of the stresses brought on by these historical Presidential Debate events, the energy is running high, and the smiles are multiplying.
Welcome to the Morning Buzz on scnow.com! This is a place where we can talk about the stories making noise around the Pee Dee, The Grand Strand and beyond. I would love for you to voice your opinion by posting comments here! Would you want a car that does the driving for you? Post a comment… let me know what you think… maybe I’ll read your comment on the air!
Kudos to FOX TV for showing most of the halftime shows during the BCS coverage this year.
Most everyone I run into is buzzing today about the Presidential debates coming to town. With both Republican and Democratic debates coming here, people who want to talk to me about it are pretty open about their political persuasion. Well actually, blatant about it.
One of my absolute favorite bands ever and, in my opinion, one of the best bands of my time, are supposed to release a new album sometime in 08 (I believe fall). The question is though, will it actually sound like No Doubt or will it be more of that “Rock Steady” crap?
Roger Clemens, one of the great athletes of our time, did nothing to help his claim that baseball’s report on steroids—and his purported drug use—is false. And he did a poor job at that.

So in case you missed it, go back and check out my pal Mark Haselden’s column on the Sports page of the Jan. 1 edition of the Morning News.
In it, he talks about his resolution to be healthier as he stares down the barrel of age 40.
So, I go home for my lunch break. Sit down and eat. I have a few minutes to spare before I go to work, so I decide to play Guitar Hero III. I turn the Xbox 360 and I get the three flash red lights all Xbox fanatics fear.
It never ceases to amaze me, the giving that comes from volunteers I’ve been blessed to know and work with through the years. Tonight, I got a little closer to a couple of folks who volunteer their time for local organizations- LOTS of time. Their names are Dick and Carolyn Sukey, and without them, non-profit organizations like the Myrtle Beach Area Hospitality Association (my former employer) would have a huge struggle getting the job done. We used to say, “We’re a small staff doing big things,”, and the reason we were able to accomplish big work was the multitude of giving people who stepped in everyday to help us out.
The holiday blitz is over, and the calendar has flipped. So now what? I’ve got a few ideas.
Happy New Year! I hope it’s going well for you and yours. My husband and I sat down together yesterday and decided that rather than making resolutions, we are going to have certain goals for the coming year.
It’s January 1, 2008. Happy New Year everyone! Where does the time go? It’s hard to believe another year has come and gone.
I know… it’s a rather unusual thing to be thankful for during the holiday season.
So we opened out presents Sunday night because we’re going to be busy this today (Christmas Eve). Christmas Eve is when my husband and I usually open our presents. Actually, to be honest, we did good this year to wait until the day before Christmas Eve. Last year we gave each other our presents almost a month early. We always try to shoot for Christmas Eve though!
