South Strand Evacuation Could be Trouble

From Garden City southward, there is only one evacuation route, Highway 17 through Georgetown, a road that has problems in bad weather.

Three Hurricane Names Retired

The list of hurricane names is repeated every six years, unless a name has been retired. Last year three storms were noteworthy enough to be retired: Dean, Felix and Noel.

Ivan the Terrible

Hurricanes usually rip up anything in their path through the ocean. In 2004, Category 5 Ivan crossed an array of bouys and the bouys survived! The data they gathered is valuable.
