Back from Spring Training in Florida has me ready to get the ping back into spring. I break down the upcoming baseball series for Clemson, Coastal and South Carolina.
We have some big time matchups taking place this week on the diamond. As far as last week goes, how can you not be impressed by CCU going up to Cary and jumping on the Tar Heels? Plus, you had Clemson’s early entry freshmen Kyle Parker yoke 3 Home runs and 7 RBI to save the Tigers from a sweep against Wake. Think about this, he should be playing High School ball right now, that’s impressive. Time to take a look at this week.
Good thing it’s still early in the college baseball season, because my picks for the past week were way off. Coastal Carolina was a pleasant surprise and Gamecocks pitcher Blake Cooper made me eat crow! So, I’ll attempt to get back into the win column with my predictions for the week ahead.
Robbery and bad judgement are ideas normally associated with crimes. Yet, those are two ways of stating how poor the officiating was this past weekend in Columbia. The affects of the referees in the basektball state championships could’ve have been the difference between tears and smiles.
Over the past weekend the first stone was cast for the 2008 baseball campaign. I take look back at the weekend play, plus I break down this weekends outlook for South Carolina verse Clemson. Also, Coastal Carolina will play host to the Baseball at the Beach tournament, what are their chances of bringing out the brooms. Dive into the Fisch Tank to find out.
Why can’t Coastal Carolina get the support they need to build their new home for hoops? I have a few ideas why, and answers to solve their Gymnasium woes.
August and September brings the buzz of basketball and the start of football and while some sports fans think it’s the best time of year, I don’t. Give me February and March, for the simple reason of optimism.
While it will be a light week for Clemson, for South Carolina and Coastal Carolina it will be a challenging one. We’ll start this weeks’ edition of previews with the bleak opportunity facing the Gamecocks.
Inside I break down this weeks games for Clemson, Coastal Carolina and South Carolina. Plus you can check out my opinion on who the Gamecocks should name as their new head coach.
On a back road, located next to the vocational school for the disabled and across the street from the national cemetery, lives a man that hasn’t had a vocation in years. Millions of kids dream of the playing in the NFL and winning a Super Bowl ring, but for Clayton Holmes, who fulfilled that dream, he realized it was actually hollow.
We’ve hit the midway point of the college basketball regular season. And like the mid-semester of a college term, I am handing out grades to Clemson, South Carolina and Coastal Carolina. With any luck by the end of their conference play, they’ll still be around for their final exams.
Not being home for Christmas gave me the opportunity to think back to when I was a kid . I thought about some of the great times I had, and gifts I received. But in jogging my memory I realized my favorite gift as a child were my baseball heros in figurine form. It got me thinking; would today’s Starting Lineup baseball figurines look like stick figures or He-Man.
With football hitting the practice field for bowl game preperations, it’s time to take a look at basketball. Coastal Carolina has proven to be a scrappy team worth keeping an eye on.
Saturday at Brooks Stadium a collection of South Carolina’s best high school football players will take part in the North – South game. The week’s worth of practices leading up to the big event, gave college scouts and representatives an opportunity to observe and lure in these athletes. Yet with these players potentially prolonging their playing careers into the college ranks, it makes me wonder, should they get paid to play at the next level considering they are potentially allowing their coaches to get raises.
Who really shoould be playing for the national championship in college football? Is Ohio State and LSU worthy? That is what were stuck with, but should Georgia have received a chance even with out winning their conference title? I make my own BCS bowl picks inside.
